Veneers

Veneers in Aurora, CO

Aesthetic imperfections in your teeth can weigh heavily on your confidence. Thanks to veneers, a complete smile makeover is possible. Having veneers placed is one of the safest and simplest ways to revitalize your whole smile. While it’s possible to have a single veneer placed, this cosmetic procedure is usually done for all of the teeth in the smile zone.

Most commonly made from porcelain, veneers are a very thin covering bonded to the front-facing surface of your teeth. Although veneers are completely permanent, only a small amount of enamel needs to be filed away before bonding the porcelain to your teeth, unlike having a dental crown placed, which requires more extensive filing.

The Process

Typically, having veneers placed will have you in the dentist’s chair on at least two occasions. During the first appointment, your dentist will remove a minimal amount of enamel from all the teeth that will be treated. Then, impressions will be taken for the laboratory to carefully craft a perfectly fitting set of veneers. Temporary veneers will be placed while you’re in between appointments.

On your second visit, once your custom veneers have been constructed, your dentist will remove the temporary veneers and clean your teeth. A strong adhesive is used to attach the veneers permanently. A specialized light will be shone onto the teeth, which seals the adhesive to the natural teeth. Finally, your dentist will perfect your look by removing any excess porcelain and giving your new smile a gentle polish.

Taking Care of Your Veneers

One of the major benefits of having veneers is that they do not require any special care, but even though veneers are permanent, one set will not last forever. After approximately 10 to 20 years, veneers will need to be replaced.

In the meantime, you can preserve the longevity of your veneers by practicing good oral hygiene. We recommend brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing once a day as usual.
